Auger refurb

Extend the life of your Händle auger. Right here in Australia.

Händle extruders use fabricated augers — built up from steel rather than cast as a single piece. That design makes them well-suited to refurbishment. When the flights wear down, the auger doesn’t need to be replaced outright. It can be rebuilt, restored to specification, and put back to work.

We carry out Händle auger refurbishment in-house at our Bayswater workshop — no sending it overseas, no dealing with a third party who’s never seen a Händle machine.

How It Works

Fabricated augers wear progressively across the flights and outer edges. Left too long, worn augers affect extrusion pressure, product consistency, and ultimately machine output. Caught at the right point in the wear cycle, they can be built back up, re-profiled, and hard-faced to extend service life significantly.

Our refurbishment process covers:

  • Assessment of wear across flights, shaft and outer diameter

  • Build-up welding to restore worn sections

  • Re-profiling to original Händle geometry

  • Hard-facing for improved wear resistance

  • Final inspection before return

Plan It, Don't React To It

The best time to refurbish an auger is before it becomes urgent. Most operators find it makes sense to work on a rotation — pulling augers on a planned schedule, refurbishing them while the machine runs on a spare, and keeping a serviceable unit ready for the next change-out.

If you’re not already on a planned maintenance cycle, we can help you work out a sensible interval based on your materials and production volume.

Why Do It Here

Having this capability in Australia means faster turnaround, no international freight on a heavy fabricated component, and a direct conversation with the people doing the work. We understand Händle equipment and can assess the condition of your auger properly rather than just running through a generic weld repair process.

What you need, when you need it.
