Materials Testing

Prove the concept before you commit.

Before investing in new equipment or changing your production process, it makes sense to know how your material will actually behave. Our materials testing service gives you that answer. We run your material through a lab-scale Steele extruder at our Bayswater facility, so you can see real results before any capital decision is made.

It’s a paid service, and it’s worth it.

What We Do

We have a laboratory-scale Steele extruder set up specifically for proof of concept testing. You ship a sample of your material to us in Bayswater, and we run it through the equipment under controlled conditions. The results tell you whether the material is suitable for extrusion, how it behaves under pressure, and what machinery and process setup would be required at full production scale.

Testing can inform decisions around:

  • Equipment selection — what machine size and configuration suits your material

  • Process parameters — pressure, moisture content, die geometry

  • Product feasibility — whether your target shape and density is achievable

  • Investment confidence — real data to back a capital proposal

Any Material, Any Industry

We work with materials across heavy clay, mining, minerals, ferro alloys and beyond. If you’re dealing with a bulk raw material that needs to be shaped, densified or extruded and you’re not sure whether it’s feasible, that’s exactly the kind of question this service is designed to answer.

The Steele group has over 130 years of experience working with difficult, sticky and abrasive materials across a wide range of industries. That knowledge sits behind every test we run.

What you need, when you need it.
